Sales Promotion
Sales promotion consists of promotional activities that stimulate purchases, other than advertising, personal selling, and publicity. It normally involves a direct inducement (such as money, prizes, free trials, extra products, gifts, or specialized information) that provides extra incentives to buy now or buy more, visit a store, request literature, display a product, or take some other action. Promotions are also designed to motivate impulse purchase (through the implementation of in-store displays), increase the quantity purchase (via pricing discounts), or shift the burden of inventory from the manufacturer to distributors or retailers (by providing volume discounts or other incentives). Sales promotion activities occur simultaneously with, and leverage advertising and publicity. Examples of Sales Promotion Displays Fashion shows Coupons Exhibits Free samples Novelty items Trade shows Demonstrations The Positive Effect of Sales Promotion on Brand Volume Sales promotion adds immediate and tangible value to the brand by maximizing sales volume. Advertising helps to develop and reinforce quality, differentiate brand reputation, and build long-term market value. A short-term price cut or rebate may be very effective at boosting sales. When all brands appear equal, sales promotion can be more effective than advertising in motivating customers to try a new brand or to select one brand over another. A strong sales promotions should be focused, creative, hard to imitate, and should well timed. The Negative Effect of Sales Promotion on Brand Volume Excessive sales promotion at the expense of advertising hurts profits. Some marketers believe the proper expenditure balance is approximately 60% for trade and consumer promotion and 40% for advertising. High levels of trade promotions relative to advertising and consumer promotions, have a positive effect on short-term market share, but may have a negative effective on brand attitudes and long-term market share. Many consumer promotions can undercut a brand's image, especially those that offer discounted pricing. Customers may not develop brand loyalty and promotions may erode brand perception. Sales promotion has a high cost relative to gains generated. Overly aggressive sales promotion can draw competitors into a price war, which reduces sales and profits for everyone.
Short Term Residential Treatment
Short term residential programs provide intensive and brief treatment based on a modified 12-step approach. Originally, addiction specialists designed these programs to treat alcoholics with addiction problems, but during the cocaine epidemic of the mid 1980s, many residential treatment programs began to address other types of substance abuse disorders. The original residential treatment model consisted of a three to six week hospital stay for inpatient treatment, followed by extended outpatient therapy and participation in a self help group, such as Alcoholics Anonymous. Following stays in residential treatment programs, individuals should remain engaged in outpatient treatment programs and or aftercare programs. These programs help to reduce the risk of relapse once a patient leaves the residential setting.
Dry Skin
Many older people suffer from dry skin, particularly on their lower legs, elbows and forearms. The skin feels rough and scaly and often causes a distressing, intense itchiness. Low humidity--caused by overheating during the winter and air conditioning during the summer--contributes to dryness and itching. The loss of sweat and oil glands with age may worsen dry skin. Anything that further dries out the skin--such as overuse of soaps, antiperspirants, perfumes or hot baths--will make the problem worse. Dehydration, sun exposure, smoking and stress also may cause dry skin. Dry skin itches because it is irritated easily. If your skin is very dry and itchy, see a doctor. Dry skin and itching can affect your sleep, cause irritability or be a symptom of a disease. For example, diabetes and kidney disease can cause itching. Some medicines make the itchiness worse. The most common treatment for dry skin is moisturizing to reduce water loss and to soothe the skin. Moisturizers come in several forms: ointments, creams and lotions. Ointments are mixtures of water in oil, usually either lanolin or petrolatum. Creams are preparations of oil in water, which is the main ingredient. Creams are more often than ointments to be as effective. Lotions contain powder crystals dissolved in water, again the main ingredient. Because of their high water content, they feel cool on the skin and do not leave the skin feeling greasy. Although they are easy to apply and may be more pleasing than ointments and creams, lotions lack the same protective qualities. Lotions should applied more frequently to relieve the signs and symptoms of dryness. People should always use moisturizers to prevent recurrence of dry skin.
Drug addiction is a complex characterized by intense and at times uncontrollable drug craving, along with compulsive drug seeking and use that persist even in the face of devastating consequences. Sex Addiction Many people do not realize that addiction is a brain condition. While the path to drug addiction begins with the act of taking drugs, over time the ability of a person to choose not to do so becomes compromised and seeking and consuming the drug becomes compulsive. This behavior results largely from the effects of prolonged drug exposure on brain functioning. Casinos
Eyelid Complication
Eyelid complications related to patient dissatisfaction may be preventable before or correctable after surgery. To avoid aesthetic eyelid complications, it is important for a patient to understand the procedure and what kind of results to expect. Patients may complain of being unable to close their eyes completely. If the surgeon removes too much skin during the initial surgery, the surgeon may harvest tissue from the mouth to elevate the tissue on the inside of the eyelid. Alternatively, the doctor may decide to use skin from behind the ear, which closely resembles eyelid skin. Some patients end up unhappy with the results of eye surgery and require corrective cosmetic procedures as well as functional surgery. Revision surgery can be complex in nature. Tissue around the eyes and lids is extremely sensitive and surgery can cause several issues. On many occasions, eye surgery alters the shape of the eye: the rounded shape of the eye corners appears instead of the natural shape. In many cases, the natural shape of the eyes is also not symmetrical. Misshapen eyelids can cause irritation when blinking and often patients complain of dry eyes. Eyelid complications are the potential risks associated with eyelid surgery. The risk of eyelid complications is relatively rare, though when they do occur they can be quite injurious. There are a number of different types of blepharoplasty complications. Patients may be dissatisfied with the results because of unrealistic expectations, poor surgical choices by an inept surgeon who performed an under correction, or resulted in asymmetry. There are also significant medical complications associated with eyelid surgery. Eyelid complications may be associated with the actual surgery or be problems that develop during the recovery period.
