This intensive, individualized treatment balances therapeutic experiences and provides a format for developing the cognitive understanding, emotional stability and constructive behavioral habits that are essential to an enduring recovery. It is essential to treat the whole person who is afflicted with addiction. It necessary to address the physical, mental and spiritual needs of the patient. An individualized treatment plan designed and implemented by the clinical team addresses the many facets and root causes of addiction. The treatment team meets on a regular basis, both formally and informally, to ensure the continuity of care provided during treatment. The treatment teams design aftercare plans for the patient upon discharge. In an effort to eliminate the presence of self-destructive and maladaptive behaviors, experts address the sources of addiction, even though causes are often difficult to determine. Treatment Gap

The treatment gap is massive among those who need treatment for a substance use disorder and do not receive it. In 2007, 23.2 million people aged 12 or older required treatment for an illicit drug or alcohol use problem, but only 3.9 million received treatment at a specialty substance abuse facility. Reducing this gap requires a multipronged approach. Strategies include increasing access to effective treatment, achieving insurance parity, and reducing stigmas and raising awareness among both patients and health care professionals.

Natural Oils

Natural oils contain hundreds of organic constituents such as hormones, vitamins and other natural elements that are beneficial to the skin. Natural oils fall into two general categories: essential oils and carrier or base oils. Essential oils are volatile compounds found in plants. They give fruits, flowers, herbs and spices their fragrance and flavor. Obtained by distillation or expression, essential oils are highly concentrated and used at a very low concentration. Carrier oils, such as almond, sunflower, olive, walnut and other oils exist in higher concentration in cosmetics and when applied directly to the skin nourish, soften and protect it. Diluting essential oils makes them good bases. Oils are highly penetrating. They easily enter through a cell wall delivering essential vitamins, oxygen and nutrients. This helps stimulate cell metabolism and the regeneration process. The ability of oils to penetrate and carry nutrients through the cell wall to the cell nucleus can prevent cell deterioration, which can lead to infections and diseases.

Sunscreen

Sunscreen agents prevent sunburn. Limiting exposure to the sun and using sun block and sunscreen when in the sun may help prevent early wrinkling and skin cancer. There are two kinds of sunscreen agents: chemical and physical. Chemical sunscreen agents protect the skin from the sun by absorbing the ultraviolet (UV) and visible sunrays, while physical sunscreen agents reflect, scatter, absorb or block these rays. Sunscreen agents often contain more than one ingredient. For example, products may contain one ingredient, which provides protection against Ultraviolet A (UVA) sunrays, and another ingredient that protects the skin from the Ultraviolet B (UVB) sunrays, which are more likely to cause sunburn than the UVA rays. Ideally, sunscreen coverage should include protection against both UVA and UVB sunrays. The sun protection factor (SPF) found on the label of these products indicates the minimum amount of UVB sunlight the product protects from. It compares the redness associated with protected versus unprotected skin. Sunscreen products with high SPFs provide more protection against the sun.
